The Seattle SuperSonics are fading fast in the race for a Western Conference
playoff spot.
They'll look to begin reversing that trend when they meet the Golden State Warriors
at The Arena in Oakland.
Seattle has lost eight of its last 11 to slip 5 1/2 games behind eighth-place Denver with 29 games to play.
On Thursday, Ray Allen did all he could to get the Sonics back on track, scoring 31 points and grabbing a season-high 11 rebounds. But it wasn't enough as Allen Iverson lit up Seattle for 40 points, lifting Philadelphia to a 112-101 win at KeyArena.
Sonics coach Nate
McMillan was upset with the officiating, which sent Iverson to the line for
21 free throws.
``There were some calls. I thought Allen was screaming and yelling and trying
to bait the officials to get some calls. The officials said he was getting hit,''
McMillan said.
``They have the whistles and they make the calls. We'll look and see how those calls went, and if there was something unfair then we'll send it to the league.''
The Warriors entered the All-Star break with three wins in four games, but have since dropped two in a row at home, including Friday's 94-93 loss to Portland.
Nick Van Exel scored 20 points for Golden State, which held a one-point lead before Portland's Zach Randolph hit the go-ahead layup with just 1.8 seconds to play.
Speedy Claxton, fined $7,500 by the league Friday for his altercation with
Los Angeles Lakers guard Gary Payton on Wednesday, added 18 points for the Warriors,
who will embark on a four-game road trip after Saturday's game.
