Tickets at Ticket Master

Training camp starts next week for the Pistons, but coach Larry Brown already is unhappy.

The Pistons' rookies and free agents will report to camp on Tuesday. But a new league rule won't require veterans with at least four years' experience to practice until three days later, Oct. 3, although they must report for media day Oct. 2. Such veterans won't have to report until ticketmaster five days after camp starts for 2004-05 and '05-06.

"I think it's a dumb rule and I don't know if you'll see it around for a long time," Brown said. "It doesn't make any sense. Why penalize guys who have been working out all summer and have them stop for four days? We've had to invite some other kids in, and I think it's unfair because there are very few jobs, and these guys might have had a chance to play overseas."

In addition to the 14 players under contract, the following players will participate in camp: guards Justin Hamilton and Ronald DuPree, who participated on the Pistons' summer league squad in Orlando; swingman ticketmaster Rod Grizzard, forward Tang Hamilton and veteran guard A. J. Guyton.

The 20th player in camp is expected to be point guard Chris Garner.

Brown said morning practices at camp would start at 10 o'clock, with a second session starting about 4:30 or 5 p.m.
